How can a Tiny House be supplied autonomously in an efficient and affordable way?

That is the question that doctoral student Marvin Uhr and Professor Dr Martin Pudlik are investigating.

We are very proud the LoftCube was chosen as the favorite. LoftCube can once again contribute to more affordable efficiency in the area of Tiny Houses after the ecological assessment according to the DGNB standard with the University of Stuttgart.

Owner Florian Weitzer and hotel daniel managing director Katrin May welcomed 2000 guests to the opening of the renovated hotel daniel and the inauguration of the LoftCube.

Outside and inside, the chefs offered their delicious regional dishes including the highlight of a very tasty roast pork and all kinds of drinks.

In groups of 10, guests were invited to attend the presentation of the LoftCube and receive detailed information about the installation, including the 2.5m * 2.5m rainforest shower – jungle feeling above the city.

The large terrace around the cube invited guests to take a breather and enjoy the endless view over Graz.

Another highlight was the presentation of the DARE THE IMPOSSIBLE AWARD. Christian Friedrich, founder and managing partner of LoftCube GmbH and Werner Aisslinger, designer of the LoftCube and founder of studioaisslinger presented the award to Florian Weitzer, who made the impossible possible.

Werner’s original idea of using the beautiful unused roof space to enjoy life with friends became a reality with the world’s first permanent installation of a LoftCube on a roof.

The idea was born in 2005 and it took almost 9 years to realise Florian Weitzer’s dream. Both the Weitzer Group with Florian Weitzer and Michael Pfaller as well as the LoftCube founder Christian Friedrich never gave up to make this vision reality.

These 9 years were marked by very challenging events, also very personal ones for Florian Weitzer. In 2012, when all hurdles had been cleared, it took another 2 years to convince the city and finally realise Florian Weitzer’s dream.

Hunting Lodge

One of the last retreats for deer and roe deer on Loch Lomond.

In history, the mountains around Loch Lomond played an important role, as the forest resources were used to build ships when England was a maritime power. The tree population was considerably reduced, so that the deer and roe deer retreated more and more into the zones where they could still find shelter. Only one large, contiguous area is left around Loch Lomond.

Once a year the district is checked by experienced hunters for diseased depth and too weak animals. The owners of this district were looking for. a modern lodge to live in the middle of the wildlife. Not an easy undertaking, since this is a nature reserve.

We were able to meet all the requirements. Darkened glass, so that the animals are not disturbed too much at night, an appropriate color design, so that the lodge does not stand out among the trees and together with the. Owners we even found a place so that the lodge as invisible as possible, but still with a beautiful view over Loch Lomond.

Our first B2B client, ICADE Reim Deutschland GmbH, needed to install a representative sales office for their new project in Arnulfstrasse, Munich at very short notice.

They had seen the LoftCube in a TV report, one day later we had spoken on the phone, 1 week later we had seen the building site and 4 weeks later we had signed the contract.

Salone del Mobile Milano

European Product Launch by LoftCube GmbH

The European market entry for the LoftCube took place at salone del mobile in Milano at ansaldo building.

The totally new developed LoftCube including interior was presented to the public.

Perfect location and weather was the basis for a very intense and exciting week.

Thanks to all the helping hands before, during and after the show.

Arriving directly from the rural Canadian lakes, the LoftCube will be presented in Milan at the Salone del Mobile. LoftCube GmbH and designer Werner Aisslinger will show the last generation of his futuristic mobile loft.

The Loftcube is an exclusive mobile loft – an exceptional living space designed by Werner Aisslingler. Futuristic architecture, space enough for air and light, individual design options, high-quality materials, lightweight and easy to install.  The LoftCube captivates the user with passion, individuality and high quality combining organic forms with precise, straight lines. Each perspective provides a new experience offering spectacular views, light-flooded spaces, cosy warmth and innovative technology.

Individuality means freedom. LoftCube is free from all preconceived ideas. The unique, modular system with its flexible components allows clients to choose their own interiors. Large residential parks are also no longer utopian. LoftCubes can be linked horizontally or diagonally using gangways or even stacked.

Here today, perhaps somewhere else tomorrow. The LoftCube accompanies its occupants wherever they are.

The newly developed modular LoftCube system allows for more rapid transportation and installation in yet undeveloped places. The LoftCube was born on the top of a skyscraper but it can be placed anywhere in the world. A business man works in it on the roof of his office building in London, the owner of a model agency has transported hers to a Californian beach, an actress uses hers as her luxury trailer, a land owner with a passion for fishing has floated his LoftCube over a Canadian lake on a pontoon.

“Feel at home – even when you are a long way from home” is Werner Aisslinger’s quintessence. A wide range of innovative ideas have gone into the development of the LoftCube in order to create the most appealing environment. The result is a set-up time of only three days including the interior. The inviting new living space of 6.25mt x 6.25 can be used for working, living, and relaxing.

High quality means reliability and exclusivity provided by experienced partners as well as the use of high-quality materials. The LoftCube welcomes its occupant with a sophisticated controlling system – from light scenarios and air conditioning to home entertainment. Berker fits the Loftcube with switches and Smarthouse technology. Bulthaup developed the new Werner Aisslinger kitchen system based on the bulthaup b3 product group. Dupont, supports the LoftCube with tried-and-tested, highly innovative materials for the bathrooms and other modules.

Sleeping, living, working. The LoftCube open space concept provides endless possibilities:

The kitchen module is the focal point for cooking, eating, and chatting. The polar white Corian worksurface forms a counter, creating a raised level between the kitchen and living area.

Made of Corian polar white, the wash panel between kitchen and bathroom features an integrated water tab that can be manoeuvred to both sides and used both in the kitchen sink and wash basin. Simply turn the key and move in. The LoftCube is supplemented with high quality brands for furniture and accessories.

Each of the four facades gives the LoftCube an individual aesthetic and functional character. Transparent, translucent coloured panes of glass or closed panels and different shading devices enable the desired amount of light entry and air circulation. As if the windows were 360°.

As a designer, Aisslinger delights in making use of the latest technology and has helped introduce new materials and techniques to the world of product design. In the process he has created striking designs and received awards all over the world; from Milan’s Compasso D’Oro to The Red Dot Award in Germany. His aim of design is to invent things that will last physically as well as aesthetically. His view is that “Successful architecture is a fusion of light, view, proximity and individuality”, a perfect fusion which allowed for these extraordinary hideaways to become reality.

After the presentation of the LoftCube at the Salome del Mobile, Milano the LoftCube was looking for a new home. The Haus am Waldsee, a museum that had been dormant until 2007, was to be revived with an exhibition on modern housing trends during the Design May Fair 2007.

Katja Blomberg, the director of the museum had the solution. Why not bring the LoftCube to a beautiful lake at the museum in the south of Berlin as part of the exhibition and give it the right setting there? Since then, many visitors have been able to enjoy the LoftCube and the breathtaking view of the lake.

The Challenge

The new director of the Artmuseum was seeking for an extraordinary, 132 sqm home – similar to a cliff situation, where a part of the cube projects beyond the roofs end.

The Idea

An eight stories house was found close to the Artmuseum to host the a living landscape with three combined LoftCubes. The more you expand into the landscape all the more it became private. Every LoftCube took over the function of a specific zone – from working to living to sleeping.

As an urban architect, when considering his new office he fell in love with the LoftCube.

He scanned all the fabprefab new developments. In the beginning it was hard for him to wait and he called every year.

“Landing at the pier is the perfect start to the day for me,” he said. Every morning, he jumps on his Riva to ride to work.

His new offi ce is a bright spot on the other side of the lake and always welcomes him. From a great distance he can see the site linked to the island by a wooden pier. The water flows beneath the cube, washing around the supports and giving the LoftCube the appearance of hovering above the lake.

”We are very grateful the Foundation selected this exceptionel project. People like us need an inspiring space. These futuristic cubes placed between ruins, that’s a perfect inspiration.“

What can a musicians’ Foundation do with an old, enchanted park, in which the ruin of a small, picturesque castle in the middle of France, forms a beautiful setting – for example as a fi lm backdrop for romantic love scenes. What can they do when the goal of the funding is not to invest millions of Euros in the renovation of a castle, but rather to promote young musicians.

The manager of the Foundation left the ruin in the original state, just as it was when it was passed on, and placed five LoftCubes on the site – two sets of 44 sqm LoftCubes that are connected to each other and one LoftCube sized 60 sqm, which forms a solitaire. The two connected Cubes each form a living unit, including a music room.

The central 60 sqm Cube has been equipped with a studio – the ideal ensemble for private study and joint production.

The cost of this ensemble is negligible in comparison to the amount of money that would have been required to renovate the castle. Due to the Cubes, the original splendour of the park can be completely preserved and yet it is able to serve the truly worthy cause of the Foundation.

World Games Duisburg

The World Games are similar to the Olympic Games.

One year ahead of Olympic Games the World Games take place to test new sports and get feedback from the audience.

After the World Games the Olympic Committee decides weather a new sport will be incorporated or not and when it will be shown the first time during the Olympic Games.

”What I really enjoy is to sit with a glass

of good red wine and let my gaze

wander across London – without borders.“

He is a mature, successful nomad. For several years he has worked as a PhD surgeon all over the world. Domicile; London, UK.

He is in great demand. “The everyday lives of other people sometimes depend on my presence. When colleagues feel they require my assistance I have to be where they need me,” he says. “Only the diffi cult cases, sadly.

” So he lives and works in the places he is summoned to. Three days London. Two days Paris. Two days somewhere. Regular work periods for doctors without borders.

Place of stay in Paris: in a five star hotel.

Place of stay during the two days somewhere: with friends.

Place of stay when working for Doctors Without Borders: a tent.

Place of stay in London: The privacy of his own home. In an exclusive location. A flat roof. Above the eighth storey. A spectacular view.

The perfect location for the first LoftCube in the history of the LoftCube.

Werner Aisslinger’s Challenge

“What could a minimal home unit look like – a temporary retreat, where urban nomads in big cities and dense urban zones could find privacy?” (Werner Aisslinger)

Werner Aisslinger’s Idea

Werner Aisslinger has discovered a wealth of unused real estate in big cities: the flat roofs of high-rise buildings, which he describes as “a treasure of sunny sites in prime urban spaces”.  Aisslinger wants to utilise these spaces for temporary urban living by colonising them with his “Loftcube”.

During the Design Mai in 2003 Werner showed his first prototype model on the roof of the Universal Building in Berlin.

A spectacular installation with an unlimited view over Berlin.
